• Our P.E. day is Wednesday, so make sure your child wears tennis shoes.

• Primary picture day will be on Thursday, September 1st.

*I will give a sight words test on Friday over these words. They just need to be able to read these words to me.

Math:
Monday- Lesson 1.5- 1 more or 1 less
Tuesday- Lesson 1.6- Comparing Numbers (more, less)
Wednesday- Problem Solving Day
Thursday- Lesson 1.7- Tally marks
Friday- Test over lessons 1.5-1.7 and problem solving
Homework: Please send homework sheet back on Friday. There is an assignment labeled for each night. Thanks :)

• Please make sure to initial your child's calendar each night.
• We will be beginning our spelling list and sight word list next week. It is in the red folder you received at open house.
• Our primary yearbook pictures will be on Thursday, September 1st.

We are still reviewing this week in reading. We will begin reading groups next week, so be looking for homework in your child's folder.

Math:
We will be working on solving number stories this week in math, as well as reviewing basic number concepts.
Homework: I will send home story problems on Monday. Please have your child solve them on their own and explain how they got their answer in the box. They can use manipulatives to to help them solve the problem. (blocks, cubes, counters) There will be one problem for each night. Please send all problems back on Friday.

I am so excited to have your child in my classroom this year. I can already tell we are going to have a great year!

• Please make sure to initial your child's behavior calendar each night.
• If you haven't sent your $5.00 for a t-shirt, please do so as soon as possible.
• I'll let you know when we will begin our spelling and sight word list, Thanks :)

Spelling/Phonics:

This week we will be reviewing letter sounds and names. We will also be working with short vowel sounds /a,e,i,o,u/. We will have a practice spelling test on Friday over short vowels. Sample words: cat, bed, pig, dog, pan, ran...also the sights words: see, my, the. Remember, this test is just practice :)

Reading:

We will be reviewing concepts about print (where to start reading, where to go after each line, parts of a book, the difference between letters and words). Try to read to your child at least two times this week, and have them answer some of the above questions. We will also be launching our daily 5 program, so ask your child about their reading "stamina."

Math:
We will be reviewing basic math concepts this week. We will also be working with story problems. Feel free to have your child work some story problems at home.
