Announcements/Reminders:

I am so excited to have your child in my classroom this year. I can already tell we are going to have a great year!

• Our P.E. day is on Friday, so make sure your child wears tennis shoes.
• Please make sure to initial your child's behavior calendar each night.
• If you haven't sent your $5.00 for a t-shirt, please do so as soon as possible.
• I'll let you know when we will begin our spelling and sight word list, Thanks :)

Spelling/Phonics:

This week we will be reviewing letter sounds and names. We will also be working with short vowel sounds /a,e,i,o,u/. We will have a practice spelling test on Friday over short vowels. Sample words: cat, bed, pig, dog, pan, ran...also the sights words: see, my, the. Remember, this test is just practice :)

Reading:

We will be reviewing concepts about print (where to start reading, where to go after each line, parts of a book, the difference between letters and words). Try to read to your child at least two times this week, and have them answer some of the above questions. We will also be launching our daily 5 program, so ask your child about their reading "stamina."

Math:
We will be reviewing basic math concepts this week. We will also be working with story problems. Feel free to have your child work some story problems at home.
